PHOTOFAIRS New York | September 8th – 10th
Booth 226
Javits Center
445 11th Avenue
New York, NY, 10001
The Fahey/Klein Gallery is pleased to announce our participation in the inaugural edition of PHOTOFAIRS New York. PHOTOFAIRS New York is a new contemporary art fair operating at the intersection of photography and new technologies.
The gallery’s presentation will explore how the medium of photography has evolved and been transformed by groundbreaking artists that push the boundaries of image making. With a varied cross-section of represented artists, the works on view will honor photography's past - while looking ahead to how collectors and art lovers can experience photography in the ever-evolving digital space through works by artists:
Miles Aldridge
Tom Bianchi
Billy & Hells
Allen Ginsberg
Frank Ockenfels 3
Steve Schapiro
Alex Stoddard
Ellen von Unwerth
Highlights will include unique photography-based works by Frank Ockenfels 3 that redefine the notion of what a physical photograph is. Iconic mid-20th Century images by Steve Schapiro and Tom Bianchi that each celebrate subcultures and underrepresented identities in America. High-gloss and glamorous images by Miles Aldridge and Ellen von Unwerth will respectively explore the idealized notions of domesticity and sexuality through very differing lenses. Ethereal portraits by artist duo Billy & Hells, and a selection of Alex Stoddard’s constructive narrative fantasies of youthful subjects, often Stoddard himself, will be on view with a select few made available as NFT’s in collaboration with SuperRare. And finally – photographs by Allen Ginsberg of immortalized friends and lovers, each of which will be accompanied by an A.I. generated poem “written” by Allen’s photographs – a project developed in collaboration with poetry collective theVERSEverse, theVERSEverse member Ross Goodwin, and supported by the Allen Ginsberg Estate and the Tezos Foundation.
