Fahey/Klein Gallery Curates Charity Auction in Support of Inglewood Photography Festival’s Inaugural Book Award

September 10 through September 24, 2024

The Fahey/Klein Gallery is honored to collaborate with the Inglewood Photography Festival in curating a charity auction to support the festival’s inaugural book award. The auction, which will be hosted on Artsy from September 10th through the 24th, features an exceptional selection of works by some of the most celebrated photographers in contemporary art. Proceeds from the auction will go directly toward funding the publication of an emerging photographer’s first book, alongside mentorship to help launch their fine art career.

The curated auction features works by renowned photographers – including Miles Aldridge, Janette Beckman, Julie Blackmon, Debra Bloomfield, Sylvie Blum, Nick Brandt, Greg Gorman, Paul Jasmin, Geof Kern, Douglas Kirkland, Frank Ockenfels 3, Ian Ruhter, Steve Schapiro, John Simmons, Randee St. Nicholas, Dan Winters, Magdalena Wosinska, and Bastiaan Woudt – who have generously contributed pieces that reflect the diversity and dynamism of modern photography. The book award will recognize an emerging photographer and proceeds from the auction will fund the award winner’s debut photography publication.

"We are honored to curate this auction in support of the Inglewood Photography Festival," said Nicholas Fahey of the Fahey/Klein Gallery. "The artists who have donated their work are among the best in the world, and their contributions will play a crucial role in providing a platform for emerging photographers to gain the recognition and support they need to succeed."

The funds raised from this auction will directly support the Inglewood Photography Festival’s book award, which provides not only the publication of an emerging artist’s first book but also a $1,000. cash prize and mentorship from industry leaders. The judging panel for the book award includes Everard Williams, chair of the Photography and Imaging Department at ArtCenter College of Design, and Nicholas Fahey of the Fahey/Klein Gallery, ensuring that the winning artist receives top-tier recognition.

The first annual Inglewood Photography Festival will take place in May 2025, and Market Street will be transformed into a vibrant photography exhibition speaker series. The festival aims to achieve urban revitalization by infusing art and culture into underutilized neighborhoods, empowering underrepresented communities, and providing education and resources to young artists. This festival is a celebration of photography and an opportunity to support the next generation of photographic talent.
