AIPAD, or the Association of International Photography Art Dealers, has mounted its annual tent-pole photo fair. In addition to highlighting 19th-century-to-contemporary talent, from multidisciplinary artist Mickalene Thomas to former DJ Eamonn Doyle, the Photography Show's 39th iteration promises to be notably fashion-focused. Look out for golden-age-of-print photog Guy Bourdin’s high-drama accessories shoots and a preview of Vince Aletti’s Phaidon tome, Issues: A History of Photography in Fashion Magazines. Other highlights include the work of Janette Beckman, who recently captured some of the modeling industry's newest movers and shakers, each handpicked from the LGBTQ-centric board of New Pandemics agency, for "Strike a Pose" in V118. An established documentarian of grassroots, sociocultural movements, Beckman has shot everyone from Run-DMC to Keith Haring. Catch the Photography Show from April 4 to 7 at Pier 49, and see the fair's most fashion-minded tidbits below.
