Before 21 Nights, Prince had wanted to do a retrospective of the immense body of work Randee and he had created together. After his untimely passing, Randee worked tirelessly to fulfill her promise and released My Name Is Prince in late 2019. The tome, documenting their 25-year creative collaboration was a best seller and even nominated for Best Autobiography by the NAACP Image Awards. Randee is currently working with legendary fine art photography gallerist, David Fahey, of iconic Fahey Klein Gallery to offer her work for the first time to the fine art photography world… and create more complete retrospective book projects from her vast archives.
When Prince convinced Randee to direct his music video Gett Off, her career as a director was born. Her second music video with Whitney Houston for the smash hit, I’m Every Woman, featuring Cissy Houston, TLC, Chaka Khan, Valerie Simpson and Bobby Brown’s Dancers, became a one of the most celebrated videos of all time. In her first year, she directed a mind boggling 42 music videos… Randee has now directed hundreds of music videos for iconic artists across all genres of music and won countless MTV and CMT Music Video Awards. And somehow, in the middle of doing all of this, Randee developed a couture clothing line that has become a prized treasure to top entertainment industry insiders, artists, celebrities and fashionistas in the know. Randee has cultivated this new creative outlet slowly over the years after Prince insisted, she do interviews in support of their book 21 Nights. Hating to be on camera and not knowing what to wear, Randee made a few pieces. The reaction to those pieces planted the seed to what is now one of her favorite new avenues for creative expression… A true artist in every sense, Randee St Nicholas has always been open to all inspiration and follows wherever it may lead…
